Another "twitter-import", this time by a veteran of Philosophy Twitter. But it appears philosophy escapes the OP.

I am merely unconvinced by any specific generalization that covers age and education. Broadly speaking, the OP hits rock bottom whenever motivations are blurred for political reasons.

Some good insights on why we should leave twitter and instagram. These quotes weren't from mass social giants like twitter. They were from Mastodon, and I found them while using my own server.

Looking at giant social media, there's often a spread of too good to be true topics. The professors there remain stagnant and journalists routinely fight among the replies.

(at)icamtuf from neighboring Mastodon has a few useful insights on the click-bait nature of mass social giants (i.e. twitter, facebook, instagram & tiktok): Laugh all you want, but I think we're at an internet content singularity. Not because ML output rivals good human writing, but because "good" is irrelevant. The content we click on the most is the stuff that ML can spew out without breaking a sweat. I semi-regularly joke about this, but I see a very real disparity on my blog. The dumb articles I'm not proud of get 20k, 40k views. The ones I put real effort into stay under 1k. We all crave clickbait that reinforces our views. And ML will oblige and drown us in it.
