The American flag has come to indicate a set of beliefs the founders would find abhorrent. Republicans may have confused patriotism and nationalism, but real patriotism cares about its country and its people.

Tyranny has been out of style since 1776.

All Americans should believe in these basic tenets.
- All men are created equal
- Governments get their power from the consent of the governed
- When the government is destructive, it is the right of the people to alter the government to protect their safety and happiness.

Americans can disagree about many things, but the Declaration of Independence isn't one of them. The people who created it were very flawed, but what they produced did what they desired. To form a more perfect union.

With all that has been happening since the January, it feels like everyone needs a reminder. These are unprecedented times in America. It's hard to remember after hearing it so many times and experiencing so many awful changes in a row, but our government was intended to protect us.

Stand against the recent actions by our president and the alienation of our veterans. Whether or not you support the military, the people who swore oaths to our country and came out the other side of service should not be treated so callously by our government.
