And to be clear I was mega short in spring last year on the thesis that “nobody will invest in the US in these conditions” and it worked extremely well- until it became clear everyone would keep investing in the US anyway. Didn’t expect it, but I learned that it takes a lot to shift the flows

Markets are very indifferent to politics outside of how they directly affect corporations. That’s been drilled pretty consistently. This is tragic but does it change corporate earnings?

Yes it is a bad deal for them. But they could be coerced if that’s the plan. Oil won’t stay low forever. Of course, it’s all dumb but I’m trying to guess what could be the idea

Isn’t it pretty good strategically to keep the price of oil ultra low? Middle East and Russia would be very unhappy, US consumers and industry would be happy. US oil companies are the collateral damage. Not sure if that’s the plan but it’s A plan.
