We are co-hosting a conference to celebrate the upcoming inauguration of the new Gender & Sexuality MA studies program at the University of Warsaw. The 1st panel (in PL), "Gender i Queer po polsku" explores local scholarly perspectives and the 2nd (in ENG) focuses on transnational networks! ✨

All members presented papers on queer speculation in literature, film, and video games. #JoannaKaniewska received the prestigious @sfrareview.bsky.social Student Paper Award for her last year's paper titled “Re-Enchanting the Future: Witches in Feminist Science Fiction." Congratulations!

A good portion of our Team is also involved with the @ncn.gov.pl QueerIT research grant. Today marked the 1st day of their international workshop on "Activist Discourse and Digital Queer" 🌎. Project members and invited guests discussed local reception of Butler, queer modes of production and more 🧠

Our PhD student member #JoannaSzymaniak joined the @ncn.gov.pl Queer Theory In Transit grant (OPUS LAP / Weave), led by dr hab. Tomasz Basiuk, prof. and Prof. Eveline Kilian.

She will be researching Queer Theory in English and American Studies publications in Poland. Congrats to Joanna!

At the start of April our Research Group met with J. Szpilka to discuss her recent book "Gorset, wstyd i kocie uszka" ("Corset, Shame and Cat Ears") 🐱. The discussion revolved around these and similar questions: Who would like to be a woman? What is the difference between womanhood and femininity? 📖

NEW PUBLICATION 🚨

#AgnieszkaKotwasińska just published an article in Horror Studies! It analyses Brandon Cronenberg’s films Possessor (2020) and Antiviral (2012) as examples of transplantation horror.

The study was supported by the IDUB New Ideas for Young Parents grant.
