Just out of curiosity, what is driving some of your walking away from Windows? Is it a security thing, an AI thing, or something else? #genchat @genchat@a.gup.pe

I'm calling this post "Jan's Toolbox"; some #genealogy extras that she uses on top of her regular software (Family Historian):

#genchat @genchat@a.gup.pe
Evidentia is good for evidence analysis. People doing DNA research may appreciate the Cousin tracker, which helps you keep track of […]

Since we're mentioning online trees, I'd be remiss not to mention #wikitree . @cferra1227 Is heavily involved, especially with the Italian project. He provided these last night:

Be sure to also check out the Wikitree Youtube Channel here: www.youtube.com/@WikiTreers
And of course check out the […]

Last night, a few people mentioned Mac-based software: Reunion, MacFamily Tree, and Family Tree Maker (which I didn't know had a Mac version). #genchat @genchat@a.gup.pe

Personally, I use Legacy Family Tree. It works kind of like how my mind thinks. I did start out purely online with MyHeritage & was hoping the 2 would sync (there was talk of that), but it doesn't look like that will be happening. I did take a look at their fee FamilyTree Builder software but […]

Last night on BlueSky we had an interesting #genchat , talking bout online & offline genealogy software and non-genealogy software that folks like to use for their genealogical activities. What about you? @genchat@a.gup.pe

A5 #genchat @genchat@a.gup.pe From last night (get your bookmarks ready!):

Me: A5 Blogging can be a good way.
Also, Fold3 automatically starts up memorial pages for those who served. If you have an account, you can add on to those.

Heather: A3: some museums are a great place for this - we aren’t far from the WASP museum (and the veterans used to come to museum events and talk about their service) #genchat https://www.waspmuseum.org/

A3 #genchat @genchat@a.gup.pe Too bad Marian had to step out. But I seem to remember that she had donated her aunt's WAC things to a museum, though I don't remember which one. I wonder if it was this:

https://awm.army.mil/
Army Women's Museum | Fort Gregg-Adams, VA
The U.S. Army Women's Museum is the only museum in the world dedicated to Army women. The Museum honors women's contributions to the Army from the Revolutionary War to the present, telling their stories with interactive exhibits and videos throughout the gallery, as well as film presentations in our theater. The museum also has an extensive research and learning center, unique gift shop and memorial garden.
