Driving down the highway and I saw this sign… it made me laugh. I’m pretty sure that every single detail about this sign (and whatever thing it is trying to advertise or sell) … is the literal antithesis of “lavish”. On the way back, I pulled over just to get a photo of it. Made me laugh… again.

Sea wolf pup from the main pack of wolves we work with. Had the blessing to photograph him. His shoulder was wounded yet hunting for himself: fish, mice, snakes & shore crabs. He healed up and was picked up by his family ~ we were over the moon.

There’s a story behind this photograph. A long cold canoe journey. Many people standing up to protect wild salmon and end the B.C. coastal occupation of toxic salmon farms. But what I love most about my photograph is the symbol of light being upheld in the darkness. We need such images now. #rebels

When planning & creating a garden remember to think of it as an orchestral song. This incredible perennial Douglas Aster is the last flower to bloom of autumn, and offers final beauty (as well as foods) for insects, birds and hearts. When the human world feels hard, remember… nature is magnificent.

Grizzly Bear, Great Bear Rainforest. It had just woken up from a daynap. Sleeping in a rain filled clay bowl it had dug out for itself. Stunning bear. I wanted to show the bear in its magnificent world, at the rivers’s edge.
