As a long time artist, I just want to make it look pretty, but I'm stopping myself from doing so and making boring grey squares to serve the purpose of assets so I can learn code! I think setting yourself 3 things to start with, then increasing that amount slowly is a good way to approach it!

First time dev here, so not sure if I'm "right" by any means 😂 I've done a lot of planning on all the things I *want* to do, then narrowed it down to 3 manageable things. For me, I want to learn how to code, so I'm starting with the minigame aspect of the project and using them as a starting point.
