it's insane to describe Al-Aly, one of the most cited experts in long COVID, as a hack. Your assertions are unconvincing

the other thing is that one of the things the data shows is that COVID brain damage does not necessarily affect everyone. It does affect a lot of people, a huge part of the population. This means the idea is worth considering and not just to be dismissed as lacking evidence
December 13, 2025 at 6:23 AM
This begs the question; what kind of evidence do you need to see to not just reject the idea out of hand? The author of the piece is Dr. Ziyad Al-Aly, a leading expert on long COVID, and the piece aggregates multiple studies that points towards compelling evidence of COVID brain damage

interesting comment to leave in a thread that is about people behaving strangely since the beginning of the pandemic www1.racgp.org.au/newsgp/clini...
newsGP - How COVID-19 leaves its mark on the brain
Mounting research shows the disease can lead to an array of problems, including significant drops in IQ scores, writes Dr Ziyad Al-Aly.

so do you think that the US government should continuing torturing this man with ICE
December 12, 2025 at 7:54 PM
you're citing the New York Post, a right wing propaganda rag
December 12, 2025 at 6:28 PM
so you want the US government to continuing tormenting this man? Do you support ICE?
December 12, 2025 at 6:26 PM
of course only White Men engage in critiques of Democrats, POC, women, and WOC have never criticized Democrats from the left

once you have everything set up Linux is just really so much more pleasant to use than windows. Enjoy!
December 9, 2025 at 3:21 PM
it's not super hard to fix but just warning you that it may happen, and that it doesn't mean your Linux partition has disappeared. Just that windows is a shitty roommate!
December 9, 2025 at 3:13 PM
on a similar note; you might also want to learn how to recover the bootloader because Windows updates have a nasty habit of yeeting the Linux bootloader on dual partitions on a single drive

github.com/ValveSoftwar... this is the best guide for making it work, but imo it's just easier to keep libraries separate.
Using a NTFS disk with Linux and Windows
Compatibility tool for Steam Play based on Wine and additional components - ValveSoftware/Proton

you can do it, but it's not really recommended and could lead to issues with proton

but I'm just talking in terms of just upping the rendering resolution. Upscaling textures or models is a different matter
December 9, 2025 at 10:11 AM
upscaling helps the presentation in most cases imo, and your screen is always going to be doing some form of upscaling since these games are rendering at way below native resolution, so running at the games native resolution on a modern LCD is no more accurate than upscaling imo

idk what it is about usbc but it's a really crap headphone solution, all my USB C headphones or wireless dongles died so fast
December 8, 2025 at 8:58 AM
Ok so what do you think multiple exposures of an at best mildly brain damaging virus will do to people if a few months of lockdown did so much?
December 7, 2025 at 11:39 PM
I think your smug dismissiveness sucks 👍
December 7, 2025 at 11:38 PM
how is a few months of (poorly enforced, frequently disobeyed, and practically didn't exist for service workers) lockdown any better of an explanation for years of social breakdown?
December 7, 2025 at 10:54 PM
why is it unreasonable? it sounds like perhaps you're afraid of the implications of catching COVID on your brain?
December 7, 2025 at 10:34 PM
it's clear that lockdown meant lockdown in your original post i.e. "people only having themselves as company." I think the theory is pretty reasonable given the many, many studies demonstrating COVID's effect on the brain even in mild infections
December 7, 2025 at 8:49 PM
we weren't in lockdown for more than a few months and in most places it was hardly a lockdown, but we have been spending the last few years repeatedly catching the brain damaging virus
December 7, 2025 at 5:47 AM
liberals have also been catching multiple cases of the Rona since Joe Biden decided that the target date for ending restrictions was to be based on the 4th of July of 2022 instead of science
December 7, 2025 at 5:43 AM
it sounds like you didnt read the piece
