I'm feeling like there's something in it for me after all. Like I can do things, and while my past informs me, it doesn't hover over me all the time. The same things replaying in my head are no longer serving as a grim reminder of what's to come if I fuck this up again. It's who I am, and I have to own up to it to survive. Sense of self and sense of worth dwindle, but all the same, I am completely and utterly myself. Regardless of how I got here. People give me options all the time for guidance or for some other reason. Like I'm bound to the confines of others' choices for me. But the thing about that is while I can operate under strict ball and chain, having a watchful eye on me feels like I'm an animal in a cage. "Don't bite" the rattles of the bars get louder, and the fervent growling feels permissible through such circumstances. Stick your hand in and see the crimson gush out. Do not play near the enclosure.
