Like imo the gnarly truth is a lot of straight men DO really fall in love with women, DO like them and are enchanted with them, but none of that fixes them being armored and scared of being seen and craving caretaking

Like yes he wants the baddie because he wants to be the baddie, but it’s less literal than it is emotional

I think power incentivizes ppl to disconnect from themselves in order to dominate or be liked, which then incentivizes them to identify w ppl who can meet those suppressed/unmet needs as “their own”

And it’s more about the kind of projection that happens in any top down power dynamic. Problematic comparison but think of the parent child duo where the parent identifies w child & sees them as an extension of themselves

There sometimes seems to be this fundamental sense that these groups have valuable for being able to further your ideological stance on what matters. That’s not true. They’re valuable bc they’re human beings

it seems important. It seems rly rly important. To not develop this mode of operating in the world. That’s what i mean by “an instrumental view of other lgbtq people.”

And I’ve just met quite a few ppl like this who in practice, with and among other women or other lgbtq ppl, simply do not seem to treat them as valuable as anything other than an ideological instrument to prop up an idea of what is good

Like there’s just something insidious about vehemently discoursing in a way that reveals, in your desire to defend your own group’s goodness, that you view everyone as mostly just a tool to prop up this idea

if you graduate in persona 5 you graduate in real life

I think it puts into perspective what you can actually have influence over (socializing, researching, talking about things, going to group events for a cause, COVID masking) and what is doing nothing (social media addiction, OCD, guilt looping thought spirals, thinking the world better)
