Like yeah, the Oscars suck, who cares! But also, Emilia Pérez getting in matters. People will go watch that hogshit and think it represents trans art or offers some insight into Mexican culture. I do think it's kind of fine to care a little and advocate for a better representation of the medium!

The awards absolutely suck as an awards show for a variety of reasons, not least of all the lack of devs on the voting committee which is why the GDC awards are way more valuable, but c'mon dude.
