My cousin had a snes, we played SF2 on it, I begged my parents for one, I got a megadrive with Mega games 1. For a time it broke my heart and then we got SF2 turbo. It cost £60! And that was in the early 90’s! Still wanted a SNES.

Excellent thread

It’s not Ai, this doesn’t exist. It’s just better programming, which is human. Also it’s progress
December 20, 2025 at 7:24 PM
My comment really isn’t on the quality of ‘ai’ anyway it’s more about the reaction to it. Truth is it’s getting better (translation) and will take over most of the work.

😂
December 19, 2025 at 2:24 PM
I’m sure it’s the same with written translation.
December 19, 2025 at 10:35 AM
Maybe. Actually my experience is more with interpretation of spoken language which also needs nuance and knowledge of culture however there aren’t that many really good interpreters which means there is space for computers to fill.

Agree which is why a solution, like a universal salary, is needed. But the tech will only get better and replace more jobs. It’s inevitable.
December 19, 2025 at 10:33 AM
Good one
December 18, 2025 at 9:50 PM
My wife translated for years and I agree her work was necessary and unparalleled but these knee jerk reactions to progress are comical without proper discussion.
December 18, 2025 at 9:50 PM
What is wrong with you people. Tech is used all over the place to make things more efficient and guess what it takes jobs. This is inevitable, start thinking about what’s next and how we deal with it not some nonsense about boycotts
December 18, 2025 at 9:39 PM
Feel for people losing their jobs but translation is one of the things that is getting really good with tech. It’s easier and more efficient for a lot of scenarios although not for nuance and specific cases. Your reaction is extreme
December 18, 2025 at 9:31 PM
You can’t, I’m still there.
December 15, 2025 at 5:54 PM
