So happy that I once again got to be a part a jury for the family BAFTA. I was surrounded by brilliant peers who put a lot of love and thought into judging this category - We had our job cut out for us, with such a great collection of games! Massive congratulations to Astrobot, well-deserved win!

I wanted to add - As I can't quote-repost it, that Reema from @codecoven.bsky.social made into the list on advocacy!!!
I really wanted to share what I'd written about her because she is absolutely amazing, in the next post

And put work in place to change things for the long term! Because ultimately, if we only look at the lens of equality (equal pay), without looking at equity (gender pay gap) then we are only fixing things for a set amount of people, instead of working to improve society. (8/9)

We had an important question to answer in the UK Games Industry Slack today, and that is "What's the most common name" there. I present to you... A wordcloud of the games industry in a nutshell

We need to be doing better, this industry deserves better. We all know that more diverse studios make for more innovation and richer storytelling... And to finish - We need to unionise the industry, and work together for better treatment (6/6 - End)

This, of course, doesn't stop with disabilities, another extreme piece of damning data - We are taking so many steps back in this industry with those redundancies. (5/6)

The most damning bit of information. People of marginalised race/ethnicity are being gutted from the industry. We were an extremely white industry before (10% is appalling) but things are about to get a ton worse... (4/6)

Looking at LGBTQIA+ folks, the trend continues. (3/6)

We can see that with gender, non-binary (as an umbrella term, people who don't fit in the gender binary) are much more impacted, compared to their representation . Of course, trans folks are more likely to be impacted as well. (2/6)

Last year, (with the help of Gabriel who's not on here) I put together a survey to understand who was impacted by redundancies. To no surprise, marginalised people were more likely to be impacted. I took some time to compare it with the Ukie census, starting with gender: (🧵1/ 6)

A few months ago, I picked up a new hobby that's been so good for my mental health - Lino cutting. While I don't want to make another hobby a job, I thought I'd open an Etsy shop as I can print existing projects! If that's your sort of thing: nessprintsbycinzia.etsy.com
