Well I moved about 1/3 of my 401k to bonds so the mix is now about 55% bonds. I’m 1/2-retired, and while I hated to sink in the losses of the last 3 days, with talk of doubling down on the tariffs I felt the need to make the move and better assure the core savings. Should’ve done it Jan 1

Home alone on a Friday night I’ve decided it’s going to be the new Nosferatu when it gets dark. I saw the original in college.

I have to save all the horror and gore for when my wife isn’t here lol.

Opening Day conundrums, to wear a Pirates hat to our traditional Yankees opening day game?

If Bucs only signed a bat or two to support Skenes, sigh. Going to be another 90+ loss season.

Yankee injuries w/ Boston improved giving the season opener negative vibes for me.

I tend to work in bursts. I find this different wfh vs in office. In office between bursts I would socialize, check in on team get a feel for how things are going. My production tended to be later in the day after most left. WFH my bursts are spread out and I tend to do research or wander more.

With the DoEd cuts states with bad education rankings are happy because the data to comparison rank won’t be collected and reported any more.

Yes the Department can be more efficient; that doesn’t mean all of its functions aren’t valuable and not all can be handled by the states.

Just watched a car drive out of NJ DMV inspection passed with a brake light out. So safe.

Hot take: Jesus didn’t say a single word we read in the Bible.

Pieces mostly written in Greek rewritten by scribes and councils, while he spoke Aramaic. English didn’t start until hundreds of years later. What we read is hundreds of years and multiple edits and translations from any words spoken.

The US Government national standards strategy and critical and emerging technologies roadmap have both been taken down online. FYI.

Today’s reminder: it’s a violation of the Impoundment Control Act and the Constitutional separation of powers (Trump et al (but conveniently not Musk) vowed to uphold just 14 days ago) for the Executive branch to defund or shut down Congressionally approved and funded program or agency.

If a movie evil billionaire wanted to bring down the government they’d buy a president, head a committee to make government more efficient and instead just offer a fake buyout and order no position of someone who resigns can be replaced. 1/2

As someone working in the federal government

No we are not ok
And NOT just for us

But for the important programs serving the country, the constitution and the law that are threatened by rash cuts

I support the idea of DOGE but a sane thoughtful process that understands impacts and is lawful.

My doctors’ office has new policy requiring collection of credit card info including security code on paper. They said they shred after entry. I don’t like it, will make it harder to dispute improper billing, and security is very questionable.

For everyone arguing “mandate” or “landslide”:
Winner got 50% of the vote, the loser got 48%. A 2% victory is neither a national mandate nor a landslide; it’s a continued reflection of a split country and voters being convinced by messaging consumed, every bit of which is bought and paid for.

Still angry and a little heartbroken.

Rutgers football added to that yesterday.

Today it will be something else.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but if all you accomplish this weekend is reading a riveting novel cover-to-cover whilst drinking multiple kettles of tea and consuming a scandalous amount of croissants, then you will have accomplished more than enough.
