Grumpy old crone, neurodivergent mom of neurodivergent kiddos, skeets are my own. Most trends confuse me (e.g. I’ve no idea which emojis are ok now!) I often take things literally when under stress. LGBTQ+, Believer of rights and democracy!
Also, yet another aside (that many probably know by now - but is probably worth mentioning) is where tariff money is supposed to go. That said, there is a shocking lack of oversight or transparency for any of this. The following is just an excerpt from a news article (USA TODAY, ref in ALT text)

I'm willing to bet many can relate to this one just now:

At the end of the day, my kiddos are what matter most to me - even more than math (*gasp*) or politics (even with the current levels of chaos, or perhaps especially because of it!). They matter more to me than anything else. I'm sure many parents feel the same. I need to refocus on what I can do.

This is a last-ditch effort to be heard. I suspect we're talking past each other and that you're not likely to listen if you're just looking for ways to disagree or if you expect I'm attacking you. I'm not attacking you at all, though. This is a formal apology, with a caveat and plea for mercy:

My Suggestion for a Winning Ticket
Pete Buttigieg as president and JB Pritzker as VP

(The following is my cludgy mock-up of a campaign poster -- sorta-kinda... I strongly feel that Buttigieg and Pritzker is the sort of inspiring leadership we need right now!)

Ok… I know… I know…
I doom-scrolled and reposted too quickly — because I was in shock and um… yes… awe… at all that flooded zone hot mess of a dumpster fire our daily news has become — most of it is genuinely scaring the crap out of me and causing me to sound the alarm. So here’s a harmless mouse:

I understand what you are saying… We don’t need more “DEI” scapegoating or worse!

The thing is: They ARE targeting Black ppl NOW! What do you think the whole “DEI” dog whistle is all about? And RFK Jr. has gone on some screed, threatening to take away Black kids.

They will come for us all in time
February 19, 2025 at 6:40 PM
The thing is: they will come for ALL OF US in the end. Look at this — they will probably take our children first… and then go after all other dissenters and anyone under the DEIA umbrella. This isn’t just a “white people” thing — this is an all decent people thing!

If we can take down Musk, we can *definitely* take down a little vampiric pissant like Miler. Miller is just a mouthpiece. Like
The Mouth of Sauron from LotR — his appearance and lack of social graces is unsettling, but he will be much easier to remove than Musk! It will be easy by comparison…

The racist "DEI" dogwhistle was bad enough, especially when used as an excuse to censor issues, but why the heck go after the physically disabled and handicapped? What does Trump/Musk have against "accessibility" such that blind and deaf people are suddenly being cut off from the tools they need?

It’s still raining.. a LOT! And I *still* can’t get the new ding-dang generator to start. Ah well, at this point — I’ll wait until it’s light out and I can see!

Just want to find a way to “bookmark” this important “memo” or note to myself — while being able to pin other things… it still matters, even while doing my best to strike a more balanced work-life-activism balance 😊

So, here’s my cat, nosing the camera and asking if you guys are okay out there 😻
February 13, 2025 at 2:36 PM
This is not to say I *won’t* speak of politics at all. I’m still a resister. I still care! I just want to sloowww myself down a bit and pace myself for the long haul… what needs to be done won’t likely happen overnight. It’s a marathon and not a sprint — like anything else worthwhile 😊

Not Talking About Politics — Pt 2:

An atmospheric river is bombarding the skylights of our tiny mountain cottage. Schlepped a generator home before the big storm and filled up on ten gallons of gas before the next power outage. But the new generator won’t start. Sigh. Will try again in a bit.

Trying to talk of something else other than politics — Part 1
February 13, 2025 at 8:36 AM
This just seems silly and vindictive at this point. I had *one* argument with this person where they just wouldn’t let it go and chose to antagonize me until I blocked them… It was all over something trivial, a difference of opinion that was maddeningly semantic.

Isn’t Musk the real president now?
February 11, 2025 at 4:49 AM
But this isn’t from the Super Bowl game this year — this is from 2022 from the FIFA World Cup.

Unfortunately, much of what he was saying was dismissed as Trump trolling and farming our outrage so his minions could feast on liberal tears. Their bigotry and irrational hate was used against them and they were manipulated to act against their own best interests

Please do more to stop this! We need more than just strong statements and eloquent speeches at such a time. If they get away with this, all of us (and I do mean ALL of us) will suffer and suffer greatly! I don't know how much of the following statement from inside OPM is true, but they need help!

Finally found the xkcd cartoon I was referring to. I don't get why people get so defensive about Ayn Rand. To me, this smacks of religiosity. She had some good ideas and some really *weird* ones, from my perspective, especially ethical egoism. Had a lot of fierce debate about that in college.
January 26, 2025 at 10:25 PM
I'm a neurodivergent person who was just thinking of a parallel situation. Here is the cartoon that I was basing my original comment on. That said, I do take issue with ethical egoism Ayn Rand insisted was true and the kafka trap that anyone who said they were altruistic was either evil or lying.

I like this idea
