At the end of the day, my kiddos are what matter most to me - even more than math (*gasp*) or politics (even with the current levels of chaos, or perhaps especially because of it!). They matter more to me than anything else. I'm sure many parents feel the same. I need to refocus on what I can do.

Please do more to stop this! We need more than just strong statements and eloquent speeches at such a time. If they get away with this, all of us (and I do mean ALL of us) will suffer and suffer greatly! I don't know how much of the following statement from inside OPM is true, but they need help!

Finally found the xkcd cartoon I was referring to. I don't get why people get so defensive about Ayn Rand. To me, this smacks of religiosity. She had some good ideas and some really *weird* ones, from my perspective, especially ethical egoism. Had a lot of fierce debate about that in college.

I'm a neurodivergent person who was just thinking of a parallel situation. Here is the cartoon that I was basing my original comment on. That said, I do take issue with ethical egoism Ayn Rand insisted was true and the kafka trap that anyone who said they were altruistic was either evil or lying.
