Dear Fall,

Please don’t take me so literally next time I post about you!

Note the nice photo of Surf City sunset on the right.

Take good care y’all!

Practicing good manners for Thanksgiving, but maybe the woodies decided not to share with their bluejay pal or are still practicing.

Fall leaves leaving. Big storm due tomorrow. Not a great year here for color. Here's about all that's left in our neighborhood. Used a circular polarizer for your amusement & amazement.

Just doin' what the kids instructed me to do. Image from a few years ago. Cannon Beach, Oregon - fantastic place!

OMG!! With great admiration & respect for our Canadian sisters & brothers, can’t believe we won! Born in Brooklyn, then moved to LA followed by the Dodgers in ‘58, one of the best moments of my life. (Hope this post doesn’t violate any BlueSky rules!)

Happy Halloween! We usually aren't home on Halloween, so we put out ceramic "carved" pumpkins. But this year, we were ordered by our adorable little neighbor kids to put out real pumpkins, or else!
Have fun, and of course, BOOO!🎃

Cold & rainy today. I offer these as a pick-me-up (UCSC Arboretum). All are Allen's (check www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Allens...)

Props to JBC @johnbcaddell.bsky.social for his inspiring hummer photos taken at UCSC.

This greeted me when I came home. 😼📸Sasha customized my favorite camera bag and suggests that it will significantly improve my photography. Good thing I had the bag zippered up tight.

Sasha's a fast worker and is trying to get Tamrac to market this one-of-a-kind bag, paying her generous royalties.

Hummer photobombed by a bee (or "The Bird & the Bee?"). Didn't notice the bee until I downloaded the image. The bee won this brief interaction, but the photo of it briefly landing on the hummer (an Allens) was of insufficient quality to post.

Make-up photos. More sun in the "shady spot" today (+Shadows/Highlights tweak), so you could get a better view of the Boss Bird. Hope your week started smoothly.
Cheers!

Nice way to end the weekend. This year haven't photographed a Townsends Warbler. I was testing a telephoto lens, and one landed close (too close) to me. He kindly let me scramble to adjust settings. Thought I was too close, but got a couple from a large burst. Next will try PS' "Select Image" tool.

Re: Previous Post. Sasha was helping me to untangle the hopeless mess of cables & devices behind my computer, got tired out, came out for a rest on the desktop shelf, but forgot to plug in her Meeow-O-Charger!

Happy #Caturday!
"Sasha Uplugged!" No wonder she's acting sluggish!
Cheers!

Happy Weekend!
Posting this because it was such a difficult capture - Sun only shines on the feeder for a few minutes this time of year. Best I could do visualizing the beak without breaking my back using Photoshop (didn't want to use a flash).

Cheers!

Mimi's Blooms - Front Yard.
Today's been a bit rainy, "cold" (low 55 ºF), & overcast. We're waiting for the autumn colors to appear, but the garden looks pretty nice as you see it. I wasn't using a telephoto, so look hard to see the hummer - the real "owner" of our house (last on right).

Auto-Garden: I haven't been able to care for my prized possession for a while (no place in garage, no cover 😬). So when I was finally starting to clean it, I noticed that it's been busy being a garden! If you can guess year/model, I'll post a photo of the entire car (white portion is the door).

1. Iris japonica - next generation. This follows-up on my previous post showing a mature bloom. Stay tuned for flowering. Note that all landscaping is performed by my wife, "Mimi of the Blooms".

2. Can't show too many Dahlias!

Haven't gotten much done today. Sasha wasn't interested in chasing the mouse or attacking Miles' photo on the mouse pad.
October 2, 2025 at 12:44 AM
New member of our family: The aquatic Iris japonica. Their bloom only last for about a day and are rapidly replaced by new ones.

Everglades wildlife from my archive, don't remember taking these!

1. Even vultures need cuddling. 2. Watch out for the 'gator! 3. Juvenile anhingas. 4. White ibis.

On behalf of Sasha, Happy #Caturday. Very sorry for the terrible, almost indecipherable image, best I could do under the circumstances. Couldn't find her for a while in this, her new secret hiding place (of course, her AirTag wasn't on, and she didn't respond to shaking her treat bag.)
September 6, 2025 at 6:37 PM
From the Everglades a while ago. With apologies to the CLO for any mis-IDs.

1. Purple Gallinule 2. Immature Green Heron. 3. Adult Green Heron. 4. Gray Heron.

Have a great weekend - don't forget the full moon tomorrow night!

Fall's almost here. Hope you had a great summer.
1. Hummer trying to remove fake stuff from deck.
2 & 3. Pygmy Nuthatch, our constant "companion(s)."

Alaska! Photos taken by my son (2 weeks ago) with his permission - that I didn't need, since he used my gear. Maybe he'll take his parents next time. 1. Only miss of the day. 2. Taking catch to little grizzlies. Note water thick with salmon. 3. Save some for the cubs! 4. Welcome to Alaska!
