Did you know that some ants keep "flocks" of aphids which they tend to and protect, and they do so to "farm" the sweet honeydew liquid the aphids excrete?

One of my kids found a huge Luna moth caterpillar! We found one last year and let it pupate protected, but it didn't get the opportunity to hatch because it had a parasitic fly inside of it. I hope this one fares better. We will find out next summer - it takes them a whole year to metamorphose.
