On 4/14, Prof. Wagner talked about journalism ethics. The first is to seek truth and report it. However, we learned last semester that truth can have a slant, and most news isn't bipartisan. My question is: if all news isn't neutral, is the truth reported in the way it should?#UWJ201 #301

In lecture on 4/2 Prof. Wagner talked about how deepfakes are dangerous, but the lies that motivate them are more. What are ways to combat this without infringing on 1st Amendment rights? Is more fact-checking by human moderators a solution?

In 3/17 lecture, Prof. Wagner showed a pie chart of what people think about the media. Overall, the media was viewed as liberal leaning. What are possible reasons for this view? Is it because mainstream newspapers have a left media slant?

In lecture on 3/1, Prof. Wagner talked about how people who don't go to college are less informed on current issues. Is a way of combating this teaching good information practices in high schools with low graduation or college rates?

In lecture on 2/17, Professor Wagner talked about framing. Framing can be construed positively or negatively depending on the subject matter. Should issues such as climate change be framed to appease certain groups, or is that doing more harm than good? #UWJ201 #301

One of the readings this week (week 4) was about the 15 most influential news stories of all time. Why are most of these focused on war and conflicts, and how is that significant to the worldview surrounding important news? #UWJ201 #301

According to the article "What makes Wisconsin swing?" the news sources in the state define the side you lean towards politically. My question is: if all of the media was controlled by one political party, would Wisconsin become less of a swing state, and if so, how long wold it take? #UWJ201 #301
