Unfortunately, the Palestinians do not have many friends among the ruling classes of Western countries. So Labour is not alone there. One day, everybody will say they were against the slaughter in Gaza, but not until the next generation of leaders emerges.

Torres is a cheerleader for the slaughter in Gaza in a way that history will not look on kindly. He does not belong in the Democratic Party.

But at what cost? International law and order is in tatters. Could you blame China for using this lawless period to claim Taiwan is threatening them and “preemptively” taking the island as they have long wanted to do.

The international rule of war is now dead. China can "pre-emptively" take Taiwan. On what moral or legal grounds can the US object?

Agreed, the Ayatollah swallowed last year's attacks by Israel as well. It's insane for the US to press for regime change. They did that with Arafat and got Hamas.

The Israeli lobby has done a brilliant job of making sure the US media name every hostage and avoid names of the families slaughtered in Gaza. It’s working.

I heard an Israeli on BBC lamenting this impact of the sirens on his grandchildren. What about the live bombs heard every day by the children of Gaza. No empathy whatsoever for non Israelis.

The deficit would be easy to cut if partisanship were taken out of the process. Target tax loopholes for the rich and defense spending on their side, and the web of tax credits and fringe welfare spending projects on our side.

There is no “war” going on here. That requires two sides. Gaza is a massacre. And starving a nation through a blockade is a little different to withholding humanitarian aid.
