According to my records, I started on these things just about a year ago. Too many other things to do, heatwave that made the workshop impossibly hot, and lack of funds meant it took that long.
A pair of SU H2 carburettors that are at least as old as me. Total rebuild. Took 4 to make 2 good ones.

What a palaver just to avoid trick or treaters.

Our front door does a much better job

2/ Some new planting and trellis just outside the back door. It's a clematis and it's doing very nicely.

Thanks Clio! Really enjoyed that. My Mum was in the WRNS. Petty Officer wireless mechanic, worked on Spitfires and the like. Aged 18..... Here she is...

Our Greengage in full blossom. It's been buried behind that skanky shed (which refuses to fall over) for years. Last year, I dug out the brambles choking it, pruned it hard and now its rewarded me.

Fruit is delicate-tasting, almost perfumed and goes from hard/sour to overripe in maybe 2 weeks,

There are times when you've just got to do your own stuff, just to keep your sanity...

First run-over with polishing compound and the buffing wheel. These will look better after another session.

Rules for old car renovation...

1/ It's only original once

2/ Repair & renew rather than buy new, if possible

It's taken weeks to do #2 with a pair of 70 yr old carburettors and I'm only just starting. Main assemblies are clean. Next stop - polishing machine........
