On April 24, we celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Department of Genetics at Washington University. We heard about its history from Bob Waterston and Eric Green and how the former trainees are moving science forward.

It was a lot of fun getting to contribute to this paper, probably my last paper on transcription factors. The most surprising result is that the E80A mutation has only a minor effect on specificity but a large decrease in cooperativity and is a dominant mutant. 🧪

I'm happy to report this paper is now available.
The most interesting thing, to me, is that the E80A mutation has only a minor effect on specificity, but a large effect on cooperativity, and is a dominant mutant.
