I’m not sure how to describe this but the new Spider-Man movie had me interested in, and caring about, the lives of a greater number of characters than I can really recall in any other movie. Not just that it *had* a lot of characters, which is common, but I found them compelling as persons.

My ratio of twitter time/bluesky time has increased lately because it’s just a more familiar place for the normie side of me. Bluesky will never be a twitter killer if it can’t make the vibe here more normie-compatible

If you have to tear out your own fingernails with pliers, you should start with the pliers in your non-dominant hand and do the nails on your dominant hand first because then when you’re working the pliers on your second hand you’ve got that extra edge of dexterity to get through the pain

Sometimes someone will tell you their tales of personal injustice and your only option is to say, “sucks, man.” There are some things that are wrong and there is literally no human action that can fix the situation. You just have to be a friend, but remember that you can’t be superhuman either.

Had food poisoning Wednesday night and I’m just beginning to realize I spent all night sweating it out having nightmares that I was assigned the task of porting the AT Protocol to Etherium so I intentionally lost my keys to the repository and spent the whole time making excuses to my superiors

I’m afraid I’ll never learn which branch goes which way in a git merge. Thankfully it only takes 10 minutes of googling every single time before my anxiety cools enough for me to pull the trigger

Sure I’m tired of the “bluesky is better because” genre of posts, but I’m far more tired of the twitter accounts that will, like, post a photo of David Schwimmer and say, “only true fans will know who this is! Reply if you recognize him!!”

Sports serve a role in society to give people a low-stakes investment in community pride, and it produces broad and under-appreciated quality of life benefits. Monarchy and its trappings do the same thing, but the rules aren’t meant to be fair, and the participants don’t have to be good at anything.

Any tips from the community on refactoring an 8k lines of python library I wrote while learning the language during lockdown? It’s suddenly become essential for my current project and I think the pandas API has changed since then, not to mention some incredibly bad habits
