Bike lanes are being considered as a part of the Columbia Heights Crosstown Bus Priority Study which would close the gap between Columbia Rd and the Irving St Crosstown. Construction goal is 2026, so far from final design yet buspriority.ddot.dc.gov/pages/crosst...

My guess is they chose the blue line because it is less frequent. And the pocket track at Mount Vernon Square likely doesn’t have the turn capacity for both the Franconia and Huntington branches.

Close DCA and develop the land into high density mixed uses. Then use the increased tax revenues to build a high speed train to Dulles.
