New butterfly (for me)! A long-tailed skipper visiting a zinnia. And a very large bee absolutely covered with pollen, resting on the petals of a black eyed susan.

Do you ever have intensely existential thoughts right before bed?

Yeah, me neither.

"You need to know these words are built on neglect."

Read Julie Pfeiffer's stark, beautiful meditation on writing, neglect, and motherhood in our July/August issue:
What's Left Undone
You need to know these words are built on neglect. I could be walking the dog. I could be making dinner for the man whose wife died unexpectedly. I could be practicing the alto part for the anthem...

My cat really just meowed at me until I started playing games. Then she curled up next to me and fell asleep almost instantly. I think she wanted chill quiet time together

I had dinner at Raising Cane’s for the first time and it was fine. I have no complaints, and I also probably won’t think of it whenever I’m wanting fast food

Rescued a baby lizard out of my bathroom sink today so I think that means I don’t have to do anymore Sunday chores

I like to put non-alcoholic drinks, especially iced tea, in stemless wine glasses so that I can feel fancy

Went for a walk at work today and it was so humid. I needed the movement to get out of my head just a little, and it helped me appreciate that my office is inexplicably the coldest one, when normally I just complain about how cold it is.

We’ve been watching love island in the conference room at work in our “downtime” and now I’m thinking about writing a love island inspired “romantasy”.

It’s very cute when my cat sits in my lap while I meditate. It’s less cute when my foot falls asleep while trapped under her though

I meant to bring my sunflowers to work today but I forgot. I need to remember to bring them to work tomorrow so I can enjoy them on my in-office days.

Every once in a while I will get a call from either Sweetwater or Guitar Center to see if I’m enjoying my gear, if I have questions about it, and to reach out to them if I do. Unfortunately for them, all the gear I bought was for my husband—I’m not a musician. But he seems happy with his gear!
