Either start with the newest campaign (Altheya) since none of the main campaigns are actually set in the same world. Alternatively check out one of the mini-campaigns high rollers have played, I would recommend "rogues gambit" as it is hillarious.

I feel like a campaign set around the Sea of Rhun has a lot of potential, embarking swashbuckling adventures as the shadow of the past slowly creeps back into the east...

Watched it as a very young child hiding under a blanket next to my dad. Nothing was ever as terrifying as gollum shadowing the fellowship through Moria, only thing seen of him by then being his large shiny eyes.

I'll suggest this is actually how the game would be played (as a player) if you used the three original OD&D booklets as a supplement to chainmail. The DM has always used serveral types of dice, though in this case it would only be for encounter tables and dungeon generation.

Some peoples ability not to simply ignore things they don't like has always struck me VERY strange. Don't go throwing around culture war BS just because you didn't like a tv show.
