In the UK we moved to "plastic" notes a few years back. Definitely tougher than the old paper ones, but I'm starting to see more and more with wear and tear. Coins on the other hand? It's not unusual to see 1p and 2p coins from the 80s.

Yeah the 40k team definitely has a design language for dark age tech. It's also noticeable across the rest of the Votann range as well as the Ad Mech robots.

It was a good read, fingers crossed for a sequel. The "gay" was IMO super mild. Flirting and a kiss with fade to black implied sex, TV soaps have been doing that for years🤷😴

I once had a fanfic outline linking all the "masters" sublines via a debilitating Quintession nano virus. The Pretenders used their shells as a mobile life support/hazmat system. But modern versions? Outside of nostalgia bait, better off making them non organic extra armour.
