Not whisky this time (sort of) but finally managed to bottle last years sloe gin batch. Normally bottle just prior to Christmas but no empty bottle availability. So what you are seeing is over a year + of my whisky journey.

Tried Octomore first time. Surprised that despite high ppm was not overwhelming. Lots of flavour. #whisky #midlandswhiskyfestival

Well a new one for me. Not really a beer drinker but this was a Xmas present from my son. See if I can find any cask influence.

First of the year. Glenallachie 8 Koval cask finish. Opened last year which I found a bit hot. Now I find it a bit tamer. Sweet honey rye smell. Tasting, the burn short lasting leading to ripe fruits and a custard pie with cinnamon. Medium finish. Different but nice.

Well I have completed my 3 month “no alcohol” break. So back to the whisky this weekend. I think it’s always better to have a complete stop once a year from alcohol.
This time I didn’t add to the stash. I have about 80 bottles unopened. So unless something exceptional lands that’s enough.

Just seen a advert for Verisure Alarm on TV. Made me laugh when they said that they would inform the Police to respond if it went off. Fat chance of the Police doing anything. Is this miss selling?

This year is the start of actually enjoying my retirement. After one year getting through personal tragedies of losing both my Sister and Brother followed by another year of health issues. It’s made me determined to relax and get some mojo back in to my life. #retirement
