I was so hyped for these two events this time last year, especially after the Paris Olympics concluded. Now I have negative hype. I probably won't watch either event. And I have religiously followed every World Cup and Olympics since 2002.

Disagree. Firstly, I wouldn't even call what Nolan did grimdark. He grounded Batman and made him as realistic as possible - a billionaire fighting crime with no supernatural / superhuman stuff, just lots of money. There's a lot of hope in the Nolan Batman trilogy.
