somehow i think knowing chapter 5 is soon is making it worse. like knowing its close but not lcose enough makes it worse somehow. chapter 4 is like genuinely so important to me and it feels like the wait to go back is gonna drive me mental

like papyrus is one of undertale's most important characters, has a connection to the more obviously important sans and is being hidden in deltarune. i think this is on purpose, because there's likely a surprise in store, but

him being the main antagonist when he has never even been named? nah

the big looming exception to this is asgore, who is obviously about to be super important super soon - which is why chapter 4 dedicates multiple scenes to establishing who he is and what his deal is, because he was otherwise an optional legacy NPC with no story scenes, so a refresher was needed

mostly i've been thinking about how for the most part undertale's characters are largely secondary in deltarune, important, but notably left out of the dark world stuff. all the big conspiracy and mystery stuff is almost exclusively revolving around new characters
