There is an exception for "material to be used for scientific and medical research or instruction," so that wouldn't be included....at least, theoretically.

Mind you; I still think it's ridiculous because its "peer-reviewed academic content" exception seems to imply that--while the works of the Marquis de Sade would be banned--I could have the whole 120 Days of Sodom in massive block-quotes in a scholarly article, and that would be fine. 2/2

I'm guessing he would argue that The Bible's primary purpose overall isn't to "sexually arouse or gratify" but to educate on morals/teach people God's will, so it wouldn't count per the bill's definition of pornographic material. 1/2
