Hi Allen. You’ll have dealt with more sources of this type than virtually anyone. Do you reckon Raverii has more/fewer errors than other prints of the period?

You’re right, the vast majority of historical sources do show side embouchures, often extremely so. It works very well due to the small mouthpiece but you can make a successful embouchure pretty much anywhere, in the centre, on either side.

Hi Mark. Surviving cornetts curve either way. If you imagine the traditional decani/cantores setup in church, having one left curving and one right curving means both play into the body of the building
