A cross stitch render based on a scene from Avatar: The Last Airbender where Zuko has thrown the mask of the Blue Spirit into the water. There is a quote reading "You did the right thing. Leave it behind. The mask is based on kabuki masks and looks like a blue face with stylised mouth, eyebrows, and teeth. The teeth come out of the massive smile and there are two fangs on the top row of teeth. There are pale spikes coming off the sides of the mask and brown strap that is used to tie it on. The mask is half submerged in water and there are ripples around it.

4/100 #the100dayproject I've been working on projects for work the last couple days and don't feel like I've done a lot of creative things for me. But here are some #stickers and cards I made to go with the #embroidery #keycaps!

6 business card sized identifiers number 0-5/5. There are embroidered keycaps with purple flowers on them on top of each card and a matching digitally designed simple logo out of purple and yellow. Each card reads "Lilac Blossom: Eight Petal Embroidered Keycap Made by Gavin :: Octonite" and then has my signature on them A simple flower design with eight purple petals and a yellow-gold center on a square sticker with gray border and rounded corners. It is designed to match the look of the embroidered keycap. The sticker is sitting in my palm.

2/100 #the100dayproject Today I finished up a small batch of the embroidered keycaps and am really happy with how they turned out! I am raffling them off to keyboard enthusiasts in my local area groups and am excited to make more soon. Writing a blog post about the process!

Six keycaps in two columns of three. Each cap has a purple flower embroidered onto a loose silk weave pressed into a plastic frame that houses the keycap bottom that allows it to interface with a mechanical keyboard switch. Each flower has a golden french knot in the middle to add some colour and glitter to the piece. The top right keycaps used canvas instead of silk and so the base colour is more off-white than white and the weave is tighter.

A round embroidery hoop with mostly blank fabric. In the middle, a partial skull sits nestled among dirt, moss, Forget Me Nots both alive and dead, a swatch of brown fabric that will become "something" maybe, and the start of a fern patch.

It's not much for the first day of #the100dayproject but I'm testing out fabrics and threads for making more embroidered keycaps. I think I'm settling on some loose silk and a DMC 3042 for the petals and E3821 for the french knot in the middle. #embroidery #art #wip

The bottom two flowers have a golden middle with a metallic floss.

I really like rocks. I was a sculpture student and fell in love with working with stone. As homage to that, here are some film photos in 35mm and medium format that I took over the last year in Illinois and Arizona. I have lots more, but will start with this sampling

Thanks to BlueSky I discovered #Nalbinding and, with some purple heart wood that I found laying around, I made a needle for it and followed some YouTube tutorials to start making chains! I'm so excited to learn this historic fiber art.
