Are you using Rapid fixer or Hypo ? If you fixer is too strong that might be the cause

I also make bread. Sourdough never got around to making it. Usually I make Spelt Wholegrain with soda and buttermilk along with various seeds.

Wouldn't think there's much in the difference. I would be surprised if any. I use Rodinal, FX39 and Acurol N These are my main developers for slow speed film. Agitation, Ratio concentration and temperature have more effect than you might think in terms of grain and tonality

I was thinking that myself too, about losing the shadows. I might try more even lite scenes on the next roll. Before that I'll see if I print a couple of them
