This is true, I'd choose cloud over VPS in pretty much all use cases. One thing I would say is that the compute and storage costs at AWS have been static for a while now. Raw storage and compute costs have come down but those savings and economies of scale savings don't seem to be filtering down.

Just wish that AWS would push more on the economics of scale. Costs have been flat, and in many cases increasing, yet the average computer costs outside of AWS keep is dropping. It's almost like AWS are milking the cow while killing the idea of the cloud.

The bean counters are now in charge. (I suppose they always were)

And then they start charging for lambda init durations. 🙈

This is the kind of quality of life stuff that AWS needs to focus on instead of the endless Amazon Q nonsense.

It's so much nicer, a lot less clunky than the old style.

And VPC lattice support for CodeDeploy when doing blue/green deployments to ECS.

High resolution metrics for scaling. 1 minute interval just isn't fast enough, 10 second interval would be so much better and really help out with really spikey loads.

It's like it used to be where it's hard to keep up with it all.

Been nice seeing it rolled out to more and more services as the days have gone by. All in all it looks a lot less clunky.
