Companies are enjoying hiring talent where they are instead of proximity to an office. Still gotta build trust and humans do that in person.

My take is that corporate travel is where companies are putting money instead of in person offices. Even with 50% attendance you shave off a significant sq ft cost. Replace that with travel for face time and relationship building

Omg, yeah

My daughter is in the musical at her university. So she watched it recently. Ahead of its time really.

In Canada, it looks like the same thing is $12 CAD with $6 dollar shipping. I wonder if there is going to be a bunch of rebound shipping shops that suddenly open up on Shopify.

You’ll notice he uses the Elon “5 points” method…

The what and why are really hard questions that take experience to learn and to synthesize into wisdom. And to learn to be humble; that we barely know anything at all.

I have used stackoverflow and google and friends and colleagues and customers to learn about the domains that I work in. Is ChatGPT another tool, perhaps, if it wasn’t all consuming in its environmental impacts. However, we shouldn’t conflate speed with wisdom: what should be done, vs how.

I am a tech consultant and have have a deep belief that much of my work is in producing evidence of thought. Sometimes a short script that does the work of 10,000 lines is decried as unsophisticated. Never-mind the hours of thought and consideration put into the logic.

Our family loved listening to you guys. When we had a chance to visit New York we got to visit the Story Pirate office, it was the highlight of her trip!

We too, have the very same rage inducing “tray o’straws” for water bottles that are at least five years lost

That’s super touching, and it’s the teachable moments from when we’re young, truly leave a lasting memory. My dad was the same way, quiet and firm, never mad, but it left a mark when he was disappointed.

So mean! I turned 50 this week and immediately my ankle hurts, and old fillings demanded to get replaced.

Acknowledging @bananapantz.bsky.social re the law of things can only get stupider

This needs to be a thing but not yet because it will get stupider

That’s the stupidest article I’ve seen in a while. Did an AI write that? Did the power company, or the company that the power company buy its infrastructure from, write that?
All these people looking for absolutes should go to church or look at the stars a bit more and get some humility.

Omg, that book is my childhood

This is the end of trust, and the end of trust is the end of online communities. This is a calamity that we don’t have tools in our society to deal with. Big brother isn’t a totalitarian regime telling us to believe that 1+1=3 its the AI

It’s been a breath of air in Manitoba after the PCs

We’ve had a similar situation in our school division. It was very upsetting to everyone, rightfully so. The police were involved, but councillors for mental and emotional support were also involved on all sides. It was taken seriously and maturely, no one’s lives were ruined, but taken seriously

I don’t know how I can agree with you more. Universality means everyone is a stakeholder and builds social cohesion. You mention NHS, the same is true in Canada with Medicare. Everyone has a stake in it working well, it makes everyone better off and wealthier.

My wife and I are playing it together. She’s the word person in the family and I’m the collector of useless facts

It pisses me off that he’s using Heinlien’s word for his shitty AI. I’ve been the cool one that has been able to use that word and be cool since I read that book at 14. My goddamn handle on X uses that word. Now I have to delete it.
