Exactly. I don't think he's as crazy as Robotnik.

He said "That is dark" and there's a sequence in the trailer when he desperately looks up at the sky. So I think either Robotnik betrayed him or he just thought it's so dark that he couldn't work with Robotnik any longer. Maybe I'm wrong. We'll see when the movie comes out.
