I’m not a big surfer, so can’t give too much advice there, though I think summer tends to be pretty flat in Santa Barbara. If you can drive north or south a bit you will definitely find better waves this time of year. If you can find someplace in Carpenteria you might like the beach there

Unless it’s red VAR can’t intervene. Since they interpreted it as the ball was going “away from goal” it could only be a free kick plus yellow for the keeper.
