#ThePlains was once described by Ben Lerner as a ‘strange Australian masterpiece’, a novel that ‘can feel less like something you’ve read than something you’ve dreamed’ (The New Yorker, 29 March 2017). Here’s my thoughts on #GeraldMurnane’s 1982 novel.

Author Geoffrey Gates writes about books he reads - personal views, not necessarily book reviews exactly - call them literary musings.

Summer reading stack. Two more to add (one educational theory, and ‘Crime & Punishment’. My theory is that it’s an easier to read 10 books at once than 1. For non-fiction, I read maybe 10 or 15 pages and then move to the next title. Works even better with the cricket on in the background.

I’ll try to write something about this soon. But for now let me just say, what a beautiful book! Crafted like a boat in Huon pine. Tears in my eyes as I read the last pages on an early summer afternoon. #limberlost #robbiearnott #australianliterature
