What was the final tally, wine-wise?

Yes even better having staff who care and know stuff. I remember a DIY store in my local village near Wakefield in my childhood called Mak-a-Home - it’s still there apparently.

They’re great. I’m not sure if it was your post or someone else’s that prompted me to buy some (there goes being good!). I think I prefer the gingerbread and white chocolate cookies though. They’ve got a nice kick!

I have some catching up to do…

Why so little wine today?

Hild was less impressed. She’d been out all day and ran in to hide under my bed soon after I got home. She seems to have calmed down although I’d back under the bed again!

I don’t know whether anyone has ever even suggested this, but I presume motorail style trains (providing seating and car carrying) through Channel Tunnel from points other than Folkestone/Fréthun would be very unlikely/impossible

It’s on my list to catch up on, along with Slow Horses and Down Cemetery Road. I see though that a new series of Shetland is also about to start, as well as Celebrity Race Around the World. So much to watch!

Newcastle and Teesside to Aberdeen was once a lucrative route for riggers between the North East and North Sea oil platforms but as I recall they closed their Newcastle base which meant the flight times were no longer very useful as there were no early morning or late evening flights.

They suffered from competition from Loganair but much of their work is actually flying for other airlines. They used to operate for BA from London City Airport and recently for KLM. If previous performance is any guide, they probably lost money in the volume of penalty payments for cancellations.

While not disagreeing that some policies may work against aviation, a close friend of mine used to work for Eastern. They were pretty incompetent and I think that is what has led to their demise. They made some very poor decisions over the years.
