I’m hoping for Lt Gen Carter, in charge of Homeworld Security.

As a fan, this sounds great, and I love that the original producers are involved. But we all know how studios manage to f*** up beloved shows by turning them into a franchise product that’s just about the $$$$, so I’m not going overboard until I see what they actually do.

Start with the ladies? I’m partial to Martha Wells’ “Murderbot” series. If you’re into the military stuff, then Tanya Huff’s “Valor” series. For a “detective on the moon”, Kristin Rusch’s “Retrieval Artist” series. For an AU history of spaceflight, Mary Robinette Kowal’s “Lady Astronaut” series.

Ooh, where to even start? Andy Weir, Emily Tesh, Joe Abercrombie, Adrian Tchaikovsky, Martha Wells, Connie Willis, Mary Robinette Kowal, Jack Campbell, Tanya Huff, Kristin Katherine Rusch, the rest of John Scalzi. That’s off the top of my head … if you need more I can check my kindle! Enjoy!

Guy called Sinclair Lewis wrote a novel in 1935 called “It Can’t Happen Here”. In the book, it did. It’s still in print, and reads like a primer for exactly what’s happening in the US right now.

I always found Vala to be a PITA, but that scene just wasn’t the Daniel we’d known for 10 years, it was just some asshole that looked like him behaving that way out of the blue. Terrible writing. And no RDA in the final show? Unforgivable. My least favourite episode of all.

Oh god, they did not, even at the time. He was far too focused on being a smartass than actually talking about the episode. Yech!

Yeah, I know. Part of my monkey brain wants to see SGC commander Maj Gen Carter coming home of an evening to retired Lt Gen O’Neill, and enjoying some domesticity together. But not at the risk of everything else being fecked up. So thank god for fanfic!

Amen. Actually, I’ve come to the (controversial) view that I don’t want them to feck around with Stargate at all. It still holds up. It ain’t broken. Don’t try to fix it. ‘Cos they’re bound to ruin it.

I’d watch you presenting anything. But I won’t watch him at the point of a gun. 🤮

Yes, read it. Beautiful writing.

Thanks for the link, I hadn’t read this one. Great story, and some seriously good writing.

Not HMS. PS Waverley.

It improves on rewatching nowadays, but at the time I didn’t care for it, as a) it was too far removed in tone from SG-1 and Atlantis, and b) probably trying too hard to be Battlestar Galactica. And there wasn’t a single character in it I liked. 🤷‍♀️

Some of it was great, some of it was meh, some of it was awful. Zero consistency from week to week, which is not a good thing in a show. Writers need to get a consistent act together.

AO3 has issues. I guess pairings are only a minor part of it. 😁

I take my travelling kettle everywhere abroad. But it’s the fact that it takes 20 mins to boil on American voltage that’s the killer. 😩

Dunning Kruger syndrome. Thinks they’re a genius at everything, but too stupid to realise just how stupid they are.
