The national average price of gasoline has increased 5.5c/gal over the last week and stands at $3.046/gal today, 1.4 cents below a year ago. Diesel has jumped 6.5c/gal from a week ago and now stands 20.8c/gal higher than a year ago.

While we're watching in real-time how US gasoline demand may shift with the flight cuts, I would expect airplane utilization to jump before and if we even see a rise in gasoline consumption. Also, if the shutdown ends in the next ~week, likely little impact to gasoline demand.

This is the time of the year that AZ's fuel requirements call for a more stringent blend of gasoline in the Phoenix area than California uses- 8.0psi RVP in PHX and 10.5psi RVP in SoCal, 12.5psi RVP in NorCal. With Sinclair refinery explosion in NM, beware AZ's #gasprices.
