Letter from the DVLA, addressed to me as a Critical Care consultant, asking for gastroenterology reports, sent to the wrong people then wrong addresses, with increasingly strident letters asking why I’ve not responded.

Dumfries Agricultural Show this weekend, and in honour here’s the most terrifying thing I’ve ever seen. This was an entry in the Arts & Crafts competition several years ago.
A baby in a wooden crib, with a (real) nappy on. The baby is made from vegetables - think broccoli hair, nailed on tomato eyes, carrot toes… it is a truly eldritch horror construction from a diseased mind.

They said the security staff hired were often unqualified, unvetted, heavily armed and seemed to have a licence to do whatever they wished. They added that their colleagues regularly lobbed stun grenades and pepper spray in the direction of the Palestinians. One contractor said bullets were fired in all directions — in the air, into the ground and at times toward the Palestinians, recalling at least one instance where he thought someone had been hit. The contractor said: • There are innocent people being hurt. Badly. Needlessly. Videos provided by one of the contractors and taken at the sites show hundreds of Palestinians crowded between metal gates, jostling for aid amid the sound of bullets, stun grenades and the sting of pepper… »

Few pics from the weekend, UTS 100km. Struggled a bit in the heat early on but got round under 24hrs and chuffed with that. Stunning day for it!
Sunrise from high up on the Llanberis path up yr ywddfa. Mountain ridges still in shadow dive down from the right and left of the picture, with distant low peaks and misty valleys framed between them. The sun isn’t long up and because there are no clouds, the far off land is glowing orange. High-flying jets leave trails across the sky. Picture from bwlch glas, the high col between yr ywddfa and garnedd ugain. It shows the lakes of glaslyn and llyn llydaw in the valley floor, and the sun is picking out the slopes as it starts to climb. The camera lens has thrown curved beams of light from the sun around the ridge of garnedd ugain which highlight the bottom left corner in a striking way. It is very, very beautiful and peaceful. Sunset photo on Yr Ywddfa - looking towards the summit from the south ridge of bwlch main. A thin path weaves through the grass along the narrow ridge. The railway station and summit cairn are visible. Everything is picked out in the dying light of the day. Not pictured is the stiff breeze whipping across the ridge creating little dust devils and freezing my bollocks off. A photo of me gurning proudly like a muppet in front of a display that says “FINISHER” in big letters across the top and has sponsor logos/race artwork below it. My red jacket matches the red of the display, I’ve got a medal hanging round my neck and I’m carrying a beer. My bare legs are covered in dusty mud below my shorts. I look dirty and sweaty and tired. Because I am and it’s 4AM!
