A heartbreaking story from yesterday's town hall in Flagstaff. I won't stand by as the Trump Administration jeopardizes vital research funding and threatens the health of Arizona communities.

It's a beautiful day in Flagstaff. Enjoying the sunshine, running into friends in the big crowd, standing up for democracy.

Millions of people could be seriously hurt by Trump's sudden freeze of almost all federal grants and loans. My job could be in jeopardy. It's also illegal as hell. Trump doesn't get to make up his own laws as he goes along. Call Congress and let them know how furious you are. I just did.

What am I resisting?Further climate devastation. The destruction of wild lands and wild beings. The destruction of the rule of law. The severing of our bonds to one another, as members of a common society. Here in Arizona, I will do what I can to to save, to build, to strengthen.

Be like the bears.

"Lake Powell's Last Days and the Rebirth of the Colorado River." I am enjoying it. Fittingly, the mug next to it has very little water in it.

Northern Arizona might see a dusting of snow tomorrow, but I hope our real Christmas present is a January that looks like two winters ago.

May your holiday be meaningful, fun, safe, rowdy if you wish, quiet if you wish, and definitely memorable.

The hottest two years in the last 125,000? Enough solar panels to be the equivalent of a nuclear plant's output being installed each day? California cutting its natural gas consumption by a quarter? These stories need to be told over and over.
It's amazing that we've had the two hottest years in the last 125,000 and it's barely registered in our collective consciousness. A few thoughts on the role journalism is playing (or not)

I am getting pummeled with the news and am wondering how much destruction we will suffer before the Trump administration implodes from its incompetence. I need a little of the non-human world today.
