One of my favorite pieces of original art: Mike Deodato draws a double page spread wherein Tony Stark confronts the Hulk! From Incredible Hulk #72. Got this at Pittsburgh Comicon 2004. #comics #Marvel #Hulk #IronMan #MikeDeodatoJr #MikeDeodato #art #originalart #comicart

So...Air Traffic Control managed by AI, I'll guess? I wouldn't fly in the US now, period. Matter of time before more disasters, plural.

Not worth that much, but I think this is the earliest comic book I ever had, that I still own. Yes, it surprises even me. And I know it will also surprise @dallanb.bsky.social. #Conan #ConanTheBarbarian #comics

In honor of the 61st anniversary of the airing of the 1st episode of #DoctorWho, here's the only piece of original art I own featuring the Doctor - or rather, 5 Doctors, plus a certain Dr. Banner, aka the #Hulk! By artist par excellance @jkwoodward.bsky.social !

Is this legit? So weird.

Contrary to many I believe it's a bad idea to block as first resort, with the exception being clear malevolence or bad intent.

I believe isolating from others of a different political bent is wrong in general and has caused recent events. We should do better, be better.

I'm oddly at that place in my #comics collecting where I don't have any more mountains to climb. Time to knuckle down & actually read!

Behold: all my Action Comics, from #241 through last week's #1075. Add 12 issues outside the normal numbering, and I'm at 847 consecutive issues! #wow #Superman

As I complete my run of Superboy back to the Silver Age, I'm curious: how many times has a popular super-hero had a series devoted to his present-day exploits released concurrently with another regular series devoted to his adventures in another time period? I know of at least one other. Thoughts?

And lastly, appearance related miscellany. I'm after just one more Brainiac appearance, 2 more appearances of the Legion of Super-Heroes, and just 10 appearances of Kara Zor-El, the original Supergirl. Wow.

Here's the breakdown of what's on my want list by year. (The pre-1958 books, for the curious, are Showcase #9 & 10, the Lois Lane tryout issues.)

Here, then, are the earliest consecutive issues of each of the 7 series I'm collecting back into the Silver Age...note everything I'm after is, at latest, dated early 1961...

...plus 1 issue of Black Lightning, 2 issues of Brave & the Bold, 6 of Superboy, 2 of Superman, 2 of Lois Lane, 8 of Jimmy Olsen, 7 of World's Finest...

...and 23 issues of Adventure Comics...

Happy New Year, everyone!

This holiday season I went on a tear. A thread full of pics for the curious...

Added 15 issues of Action Comics to the ongoing collection...

This is nuts.

I own every issue of these 7 series from the #s below. I'm actively collecting back to 1958, the consensus year Silver Age Superman began.

I'm 3 books from having all 12 centers & all books pre-FF #1. Missing only 6 appearances of the Legion of Super-Heroes.

Again: this is nuts.

I went to the Scottsdale Comic Show yesterday and did a thing.

I got 23 new books in my quest to own every Superman comic from the start of the Silver Age on up. That means I have 159 books left on the list. And this time, I picked off a BIG one.

What do you think, sirs?
November 19, 2023 at 7:49 PM
Well, now it doesn't matter which one you say is the first appearance of Darkseid. I own them both! (But only because they're both Superman appearances!) I've owned Jimmy Olsen a few years; Forever People is new. A terrific guest appearance in this one, even if Kirby didn't draw Supes' head.

What I read this week: Spirits of Vengeance (2017-18) by Victor Gischler & David Baldeon. An OK series featuring some favorite characters (Daimon & Satana Hellstrom). Art really didn't fit the horror theme & script didn't capture characters' true voices in spots. (1/2)

Did I mention I'm not only reading Superman 1938-86, I'm also collecting them? Pre-pandemic I finished off the Bronze Age & have been grabbing Silver Age lately. Across 7 series I've got ~200 issues left to buy to have everything from when DC's cutoffs for the start of the S.A. Among the latest:
