On the face of it, SP with only 9 MPs has a central role to play here once again because of the nature of the Norwegian political system. And despite a rather disastrous night for them losing 19 MPs & achieving just 5.6% of the vote

Yes she found the article.

Thanks for these suggestions. I really appreciate them. I am making a list :)

Congrats @benjthomas.bsky.social Thanks for highlighting your article and for a citation of the book. I look forward to reading it soon

Looks like a very interesting phd. Congrats. You might find our forthcoming edited volume interesting, esp in relation to Conservative students, transnational Conservatism etc

Ha, sorry! But I got a lot out of your book, which is why I thought it had the quote. I wrote this essay a while ago so I had to go back to it today. These things take time to reach publication!

Agreed. There are many forms of political writing we could not cover in a book like this but hopefully it proves to be useful for others who are actively engaged in tackling them!

@benjthomas.bsky.social And the original citation is footnote 3 here
July 10, 2025 at 9:21 AM
@benjthomas.bsky.social My mind played tricks on me. My footnote reads: 'Quoted in John Barnes and Richard Cockett, ‘The Making of Party Policy’, in Anthony Seldon and Stuart Ball (eds.), Conservative Century: The Conservative Party since 1900 (Oxford, 1994), p. 348.'

It was also a nice surprise and an honour to get these endorsements from @fieryparticle.bsky.social @saimanasar.bsky.social Ben Jackson and Martin Francis. A ‘thousands thanks’ as we say over here in Norway

I have seen the original document in the archive. But it was in Barr’s history that I was reminded of it

It sounds like I should consult my own paper to settle this once and for all, sometime soon 😀
