best part of an hour from the Driftwood Spars to get here. Empty or not, she wouldn't know until she knocked. Glancing up and down the lane one last time, she opened the gate and followed the path to the door. The long grass tickled her bare arms and brushed against her deep crimson skirt. The gold sequins on its hem rustled as she walked and the hum of the pollinators rose around her. At the door step, she took a moment to give the windows one final scan. Then she lifted the black iron knocker and let it rap against its plate, the noise a gunshot breaking the tranquility.
