Article details just 7 total incidents, with only 1 injury! Let's not forget that this is the worst this system will ever be.

Perfect isn't the enemy of the good; a sober look at this article doesn't indicate to me, that the public is at risk.

Rather we opportunity-costwise, risk not testing more!

In benefit-cost thinking and analyses, much of this discussion is focused entirely on the costs! What about the benefits?

Robotaxis are a product for everyone, basically anyone going anywhere, at any time. And then there's the fact that there are 40,000 fatalities by human drivers annually.

While discomforting, the bar can’t be to never allow any mistakes. It’s a process (one’s opinion about Tesla aside). This is the only reasonable way to get progress. There will be successes and failures.

Another guesstimate: only so long in which the curve can be practically flattened pre-vaccine, perhaps eventually NPI's at the population level fail (any number of factors, including population fatigue)... ie, sufficient time passes --> people are exposed; this happened in all locales eventually

In good faith, re: the similar absolute numbers (and therefore higher death rates) comparing ND and city of SFO (also MI and another major city) — possible the pre-vaccine death rates skew R because of the absolute lower healthiness of those populations? A guesstimate re: a likely confounding factor

Agreed! Not a fan of making any of these cohorts into monoliths

Fair enough, but CEO's, landlords, stock brokers, and law enforcement are not ideologically homogenous either!
