🚨Bad Dope Alert - this is a new one to me...

Multiple samples (pink chunk, beige chunk, beige granules) sold as down in DTES tested positive for piperidone, a precursor chemical used to make fentanyl, and negative for fentanyl itself. Substance may cause dizziness, nausea and abdominal pain.

🚨Be careful under that heat dome out east. 620 died out west in 2021. Overdoses are more common when the mercury is up. But on the DTES, deaths were less than they could’ve been bc we take care of each other. So do that. Check on yer people. Find shade. Stay hydrated. Stay safe 🌡️

Of course the local anarchist bookshop has my book Crackdown, and it’s moving pretty good, they say. Plus, they made this little display with a review from BC Bookworld.

At today's @crackdownpod.bsky.social editorial board meeting we had @msthpetra.bsky.social from Moms Stop the Harm drop by. Also copies of my book for everyone. I did not prompt them to hold 'em up. That was Samona's idea.

I am honoured for my book Crackdown to be featured in BC Bookworld this summer 🤯📚#booksky

Within hours of Poilievre's election loss, Conservative staffers were dispatched to the Tory archives to obtain Stephen Harper's sweater vest for the image softening to come. "It worked in 2008," one was heard saying, "now who's got a cat?"

I am honoured that Grace Chen wants to read my book. Grace runs the Ovaltine Cafe. She's been cooking good, affordable breakfasts for me & Jeff & the whole @crackdownpod.bsky.social team for years. She has much love for the DTES and it loves her right back. ❤️☕️🍳🥓

Plenty of dramatic things happen at @crackdownpod.bsky.social Editorial Board / meetings. Too often we talk about death. But today Samona & Laura delivered puppies.

Apologies, but there is an 18 week waiting list for my book “Crackdown” at the Vancouver public library. Pretty much same thing for the audiobook. I will ask if they can get more copies. I am stoked that people wanna read it.

Sold out Writers Fest event last night. I was blown away by the big response for my book Crackdown. I'm grateful to @andreawoo.bsky.social for asking all the right questions. A political, militant evening full of resistance to fascism & hope. So many books sold & signed. Thank you all #booksky

We are very sad to say good bye to Shelda Kastor. She died Tuesday. Shelda was from the Ochapowace Nation in Saskatchewan. She was part of @crackdownpod.bsky.social from day 1 and active in BCAPOM, WHARS & VANDU for many years. She was always happy to see you and had a hug for everyone. 💔 RiP

When I started making audio documentaries, I couldn't read out loud from a page. I always thought I was just too blind. That was 10yrs ago. We've made 50 eps of @crackdownpod.bsky.social since & I just finished recording an audiobook of my book (out April 15). Now I'm pretty good at this.

Legislating postal workers, longshore workers, teachers, nurses, public sector workers etc. back to work short circuits our Charter right to collective bargaining. Bosses can just wait for the gov to ride in to their rescue. No need to negotiate in good faith. It hurts us all. Solidarity
