I co-organized and signed this open letter because silence is complicity.

244 Palestinian journalists have been murdered by Israel since the genocide in Palestine began. In response, 244 Canadian writers have added our names to an open letter calling these killings what they are: war crimes.

These journalists were deliberately targeted for telling the truth.

Acclaimed writers like Omar El Akkad, Tanya Talaga, Karen Solie, and David Chariandy have signed. Truth and Reconciliation Commissioner Marie Wilson has also signed.

Together, we say: Their deaths will not go unnoticed.
