The Designer's Pencil - Activision 1983 Commodore 64. A computer toy rather than a game, the simple programming language (which controlled the movements of the pencil) even supported recursion, enabling a 20 line program to draw the tree on the right.

An Activision ad from 1983/84 timeframe, when the company was making the transition from game cartridges to computer software, after the bloody crash of the Atari 2600 business in the U.S.

The first title in the 2nd row is The Designer's Pencil, my first C64 product. Rather than a game... 1/2

It amazes me how many fans we meet who have such heartfelt memories of the Atari 2600 era, getting our game cartridges as holiday gifts & playing with family.

It's why we started audacitygames.com -to recreate those moments w/ amazing NEW games for the old 2600, w a collectible box & color manual.

Hi! I’ve been making video games since 1979. I’ve designed games for the Atari 2600 (Donkey Kong, Keystone Kapers, Circus Convoy), NES (A Boy and His Blob, Bart vs the Space Mutants), C64 (GameMaker) and lots of others.

And we’re publishing new 2600 titles- www.audacitygames.com

Glad to be here.
